"The acquisition of a stack of locally produced recordings of the Grimsley High School concert band from the '60s set this new composition in motion. I took part in all manner of sonic mayhem with these sides: listeners will sometimes hear a dozen concert bands at once, all playing different pieces. This piece is dedicated to the wonderful Herbert Hazelman, who conducted the Grimsley band for nearly a half a century, introducing much contemporary music.
