In Sofia our intrepid host Svetan came forward with the master recording of my first Bulgarian solo event, recorded March 2010–

I began producing copies of this CD while waiting to meet my wife in Rome. I used the business center of a Hilton near my own hotel to print train tickets and cover art and also downloaded an illustrated quote of mine that I thought I was appropriate, “There are no bridges in folk songs because the peasants died building them,” all the time remembering what Svetan had said looking out toward the mountains as we took the train back to Sofia from Plovdiv: “In the mountains there are people living a very old way of life, traditional….they are like peasants….living in the old way….they sometimes see the devil.”
